The coastal hunters move into the Stone Age area Athra (Ertebølle)!
Travel back 7,000 years to Denmark’s warmest period to date, the Ertebølle period, when coastal hunters and gatherers travelled along fish-rich waters between several coastal seasonal settlements, sometimes burying their dead fellow humans and livestock. Last summer, they established a new longhouse at their summer settlement, which they return to and move into. But how do they use such a spacious hut with such strong centre posts that it must have been Denmark’s oldest form of house? Come and talk to the Stone Age people and try out their craft.
From 11am to 4pm, we’ll be happy to tell you about everyday life in the Stone Age. During the day, we will demonstrate how to make and sharpen a flint knife, braid bracelets, make fish hooks or dissect and cook fish.
