Friends of Lejre Land of Legends
Are you also bitten by the Lejre Land of Legends? Fascinated by the past? Do you love nature?

Are you also fascinated by Lejre Land of Legends? Fascinated by the past? Do you love nature?
then the Friends of Lejre Land of Legends might be for you.

Since its establishment in 1987, the association Friends of Lejre Land of Legends has been the link between Lejre Land of Legends and everyone who is interested in the center.
As a member of the association, you support Lejre Land of Legends financially and get free admission throughout the season. You also get a 20% discount on selected items in the museum shop and discounts on tickets for your guests.
You also have the opportunity to take part in activities with other volunteers that support Lejre Land of Legends. The friends of the association are a diverse group of people with many different skills. What we have in common is that we all love Lejre Land of Legends and are interested in Danish history.
The work of the Friends is organized in guilds in the individual historical areas. In the guilds, we perform lighter practical tasks on monthly guild days in collaboration with the permanent staff of Lejre Land of Legends. You can read more about the different guilds below.
In addition to the general meeting in March, which is always spiced up with an interesting lecture, the Friends of Lejre Land of Legends hold an annual Friends’ Evening just for members of the Friends’ Association. We participate in the two annual effort days, where Lejre Land of Legends is prepared for the spring opening and the fall closure of the areas.
The Friends Association is managed by a board of directors. See the statutes here.
As a self-governing institution, Lejre Land of Legends is in great need of the Friends of the Museum’s support for the work and research into the way our ancestors lived, the active storytelling and nature experiences for both children and adults.
You can join the Friends of Lejre on this page or in the museum shop in Lejre Land of Legends. Membership of the association costs DKK 255 for adults and DKK 150 for children between 3 and 11 years.

The Friends’ Association’s interest and great practical assistance is a huge support for Lejre Land of Legends, which needs a large and committed Friends’ Association that supports the work and research into the way our ancestors lived, with active storytelling and nature experiences for both children and adults. 80% of the membership fee goes to Lejre Land of Legends, which provides free admission, great discounts and exciting member events. Venneforening regularly publishes the magazine “Ask” as well as the smaller version “Flyve Ask” these are published several times a year and can be read together with other publications here:
Guilds and groups for the active
If you’d like to join in some fun, active work with others, you can join one of our guilds or join a working group. They carry out regular ongoing tasks in the areas of Sagnlandet, but can also take on larger individual tasks.
What needs to be done is determined by the Land of Legends area leaders or the volunteer coordinator as part of the Land of Legends Camps work plan. At the guild days – usually held on the second Saturday of each month – project descriptions are shared and tasks are assigned. If you are a member and want to get involved, you can find the contacts here.

The Viking Guild consists of a mix of friends of Sagnlandet who volunteer in Sagnlandet’s Viking area (year 700) and a group of traveling Vikings who visit for periods with their own tents, historically correct crafts, weapons and their own clothes. Together, the Guild supports the employees’ communication and helps with practical tasks and events.

Landbohusene
We meet at Landbohusene on guild day on the second Saturday of every month. We weed, plant and mow in the gardens around Landbohusene. We split, weave willow fences, mow grass with a scythe and assist the farm with building maintenance.
We lime while the pigs grunt, the ducks quack and the birds sing in the forest. We eat lunch together, enjoy ourselves and have some good conversations.
