Watch the charcoal burners making charcoal in the Iron Age

Without charcoal, there would be no iron — and without iron, no tools. On 15–16 August, at the charcoal pits, you can see how charcoal burners produced charcoal during the Iron Age, a process that was absolutely central to the economy and everyday life of the time. Watch the demonstrations of charcoal production and gain an insight into the techniques required to transform wood into the fuel that blacksmiths could not do without.
