Clay cladding in the Iron Age – Ascension Day in Lejre Land of Legends

Iron Age building material no. 1 – clay takes centre stage during the Ascension holiday
From 29 May to 1 June, we invite you behind the scenes in the Iron Age village, where we’ll be working with one of the most important materials of antiquity: clay.

Walls will be clayed and ‘bricks’ moulded to seal and strengthen the houses – just like 2000 years ago. Come and feel the material in your hands and hear how we find, process and use clay to keep out rain and wind.

It will be sensory and definitely educational!
