Hourly paid educator in Lejre Land of Legends
Are you looking for a skill-developing and varied student job as a communicator of natural and cultural history and crafts from the Stone Age to modern times?
As an educator in Lejre Land of Legends, your work will consist of:
bringing communication to life
Our audience is diverse. You will meet ordinary visitors and families from home and abroad, school classes and other institutions, as well as meeting and event participants. Guests are children and adults, lay people and professionals, individuals and groups – a wonderful mix.
You will work with animated communication, often dressed in ancient or historical costumes and sometimes in the role of a historical person from the Stone Age, Iron Age, Viking Age or 1800s. Your work will include teaching school classes and other institutions and providing information to visitors to Lejre Land of Legends from Denmark and abroad. You will also be available for event guards for corporate groups and family outings. In practice, we work with campfire cooking, crafts and outdoor activities. As you become more experienced, you will also have the opportunity to guide families and volunteers, and as a tour host and rear guard, you will also be responsible for planning and coordination.
- The prehistoric area consists of the Iron Age village of Lethra with reconstructed houses from the period 200 BC. – 200 AD, as well as forests, fields & our atmospheric sacrificial bog. In addition, there is also our Stone Age environment, which covers the period from the Late Iron Age to the Ertebule period (12,500-3,900 BC)
- The Viking area reflects the early Viking Age with finds and source material from the 5th and 10th centuries. The Viking area is furnished with a King’s Hall, a shepherd’s house, a cookhouse, a chopping house, a smithy, a god’s hut and a large tent area with sleeping tents and work tents.
- Krikkebjerghuse brings rural life to life in two poor 18th-century homesteads in the light of the social classes, beliefs and stories of peasant life.
Daily communication
Outside of our role, we work in BÃ¥ldalen, on Buebanen, in the Archaeological Workshop and in the historical workshops.
- BÃ¥ldalen is a recreational and educational area, an ancient experimental center where children and adults participate in activities based on ancient technological development.
- At the Archery Range, we teach archery as a hunting and warfare discipline throughout history.
- The Archaeological Workshop offers hands-on activities based on field archaeology and archaeologists’ working methods.
- In the historical workshops – the costume workshop & pottery – you will be in charge of children’s activities such as braiding ribbons and making clay objects.
Last but not least, you will be expected to help with a variety of practical tasks for the benefit of Lejre Land of Legends’ guests and not least your colleagues.

- You have a sense of good service and want to give our guests a good experience.
- You are welcoming, outgoing and outgoing.
- You’re good at talking to people and engaging with our guests.
- You can quickly familiarize yourself with new material and translate it into good communication.
- You may have experience with communication from other museums or tourist attractions.
- You may have experience with professional content – e.g. archaeology, ethnology or history.
- You may have experience with pedagogical work or teaching.
- You want to engage and develop as an educator through training and collegial sparring.
- You enjoy working both alone and in different groups.
- You are practical and know how to use tools.
- You have the desire and physique to work outdoors in all kinds of weather and have animal cover.
- You are passionate about and have knowledge of natural and/or cultural history
You study e.g. archaeology, ethnology, history, nature & cultural communication, pedagogy, drama, environmental studies, forestry & agriculture, zookeeping, sports, crafts or crafts and design. Whatever you study, we value your personal qualifications and skills. You don’t have to be able to check all of the above, as long as you have the desire to learn and develop.
Employment period & working hours
We are looking for intermediaries in the period from April 1 to October 31, 2025 + possibility for the 3 Advent weekends.
When you start working at Lejre Land of Legends, you will receive a training program that develops the skills that your work requires. In addition to mandatory training days and training hours in the areas with experienced colleagues as supervisors, you can expect continuous periods of employment corresponding to Lejre Land of Legends’ seasonal periods in 2025: Spring season (from April 1 to June 27), peak season (school holidays and international summer season from June 28 to August 31), fall season (from September 1 to October 19). In addition, there is the possibility to work during the first three Advent weekends (from November 29 to December 14).
It’s important that you participate in the training program and let us know at the start of your employment how much you expect to be able to work for the rest of the 2025 season. Planned vacations and days off will therefore, as far as possible, be agreed upon at the start of employment.
All positions are student positions with a varying number of weekly working hours in our different areas. We would like you to be able to work approximately 1-3 weekdays a week between 09:00-16:00, as well as 1-2 weekends a month during the same hours. However, as the number of bookings and guests fluctuates, Lejre Land of Legends cannot guarantee a specific number of hours in advance. The spring season, public holidays and the peak school vacation season can be busy periods with the possibility of extra hours.
PLEASE NOTE! Please note that this is a student job that is paid at a student salary – Hourly wage: DKK 146.56 plus supplement for weekend, public holidays & evening hours.
