Info

The stinging nettle can do much more than simply irritate the skin and be added to pancakes. It is even known as ‘the silk of the North’.

Since the Stone Age, it has been used as a textile fibre and shares many similarities with flax and hemp fibres in terms of both quality and properties.
Come down to the costume workshop and have a go at transforming nettles from a stinging plant into soft fibre, together with our textile experts.

It takes a fair bit of patience, but with a little help from an adult, it’ll all work out fine.
