October 2016<\/time><\/div>\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Well-dressed Vikings &#8211; what did they look like?<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Most people today have an idea of what the Vikings looked like. But we actually know very little about what the Vikings wore and how they dressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over time, archaeologists have found several textile and fur remains, but few complete garments. The knowledge we have is therefore limited and mainly relates to preserved archaeological finds from graves belonging to the upper classes of Viking society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But how did Vikings from different social classes actually dress?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A team of researchers is now trying to find out. They are doing this by examining preserved textile remains, but also by examining images and written sources about Viking clothing styles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Based on the new knowledge, they will reconstruct a man&#8217;s and a woman&#8217;s costume and compile a costume catalog that presents the latest suggestions for different clothing in the Viking Age.<\/p>\n\n\n\r\n\r\n<section class=\"standout-section standout-block standout-columns alignwide column-gap-s\" style=\"--columns: 2; --column-span: 1; --element-alignment: flex-start;\" data-columns=\"2\">\r\n\r\n\t<div class=\"standout-max-container\">\t\r\n\r\n<div class=\"standout-block-inner\">\r\n\t\t\t<div class=\"acf-innerblocks-container\">\n\r\n\r\n<section class=\"standout-block standout-column-element rounded-bg border-bg has-bg has-bg-color\" style=\"background-color: var(--wp--preset--color--color-istid);\">\r\n\r\n\t<div class=\"standout-max-container\">\t\r\n\r\n<div class=\"standout-block-inner\">\r\n\t\t\r\n\t\t\t<div class=\"acf-innerblocks-container\">\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/sagnlandet.dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/tekstilrest.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1564\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Textile remains from Hvileh\u00f8jgraven.
