Beautiful embroidery in the Viking Age

We are recreating a textile from the Mammen grave where there is clear embroidery. The textile has traces of another origin, i.e. from before 950. It is not possible to say where in the world it comes from.

The textile is handwoven in wool and dyed yellow – or golden – and we embroider with wool thread dyed in shades of yellow, green and brown.

The embroideries are rich in imagery from both pagan and Christian culture.
